Welcome to the XXXIXth edition of the “Dimitrie Cantemir” International Geographical Conference !
The International Geographic Seminar ”Dimitrie Cantemir” represents an event with a long tradition in the Geography Department of ”Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. The Seminar was first organized by ”Dimitrie Cantemir” Geographic Society, which was created in 1930, at the same time with the creation of the geographic branch of the Romanian Academy from Iași. A few years later, in 1937, the first volume of the publication Lucrările seminarului geografic „Dimitrie Cantemir” appeared, a journal that still continues to publish significant scientific contributions.
The Seminar that will take place in the period 18-20th of October 2019 will approach, as previous editions did, social, economic and environmental issues, analyzed from a predominantly geographic perspective. Special focus will be on problems related to the impact of climate change, water resources management, demographic tendencies and regional and urban current development policies. The debates will be held during the following activities/events:
- 10 thematic sessions
